Green pest control: more than just an idea?

Spring is the Season for Green Pest Control

After months of staying indoors, people across New England are ready for spring. With warmer temperatures, budding flowers, and outdoor activities like walking and biking, most of us in East Longmeadow, Wilbraham, and surrounding areas are excited to put another winter behind us. We all know spring is the season for green when it comes to plants, lawns and gardens, but did you know spring can also be the season for green pest control?

How can you keep pests out of your home while practicing green pest control?

Seal the Entry Points

Your walls, doors and windows are the first line of defense against invading pests. Make sure these areas are free of holes, cracks or openings– pests don’t need much space to squeeze through! Repair or replace broken window screens, caulk or seal openings around utility pipes, and install door sweeps underneath exterior doors.

Keep it Clean

Messes (including clutter and moisture) attract pests, such as ants, roaches, and flies! Promptly clean up spills and crumbs, remove any sources of standing water in the home, don’t let trash or dishes pile up, and store food in durable, sealed containers.

Natural Repellents

Some people swear by various natural repellents for keeping away pests such as ants, cockroaches, and flies. Check out our infographic below for some ideas!
